GRP-Gratings

The positive long years of experience in the use of GRP gratings, not only in the industrial sector but also in the public and private sectors have made clear the benefits of GRP material in a variety of locations and situations. Since the late 90s, GRP products have been a permanent part of our range, so we can meet national and international market demands.

  • GRP components
    • The components resin, fibreglass, additives and dyes are the basis of the composite GRP, which is very versatile in its form and practicability.


    • Resin
    • The resin used determines the chemical resistance, flexibility and UV resistance of the GRP product. Depending on the application, different types of resins are used. GRP products can be made from orthophthalic resin, isophthalic and vinyl ester resin (with extremely high chemical load), whereby Lichtgitter uses isophthalic resin as standard. The special feature of the phenolic resin is the good fire resistance and very low smoke production.

    • Glass fibres
    • As reinforcement, continuous glass filaments are woven in a plurality of layers.

    • Additives
    • Additives such as flame retardants, hardeners, accelerators and UV stabilisers are further components.

    • Dyes
    • The standard colour of the Lichtgitter GRP gratings is grey, similar to RAL 7035. Colour pigments allow colouring of the GRP product. This results in architectural design options or warning and signal designations.

  • Models/Types
    • Gratings with concave surface
    • Type: GRP-K

      A concave surface is defined as a surface of the plane which curves inward during curing. The resulting web edges ensure a high slip resistance. This surface achieves the slip resistance rating group R13 according to BGR 181.

       

      The grating type GRP-K is available in various mesh widths, from standard to narrow pitches and in various grating heights, for example, as heavy-duty gratings available with a height of 50 or 60 mm from stock.

    • Gratings with polished surface
    • With a ground surface, the concave surface of the GRP gratings is sanded after curing. This creates a smooth surface that can be subsequently sealed.



      Type: GRP-G

      The grating model GRP-G is available in different strengths, heights and mesh widths so that a wide range is guaranteed.

       

      Type: GRP-S

      The grating type GRP-S stands for GRP gratings with a ground surface, which are used as heavy-duty gratings.

       

       

    • Gratings with a sanded surface
    • In addition, the GRP gratings can be additionally supplied with a sanding. This makes higher anti-slip rating groups possible. The sanding is applied to the surface in conjunction with a resin. A distinction is made between a coarse corundum and a finer quartz coating.

       

      Type: GRP-BK


      The corundum sanding is a sanding with sand grain size between 0.5-1.0 mm. The anti-slip rating group R13 is achieved and therefore often used outdoors. Furthermore, this sanding is used in industry when lubricants and oils are present.


       


      Type: GRP-BQ

      The quartz sanding uses a sand grain size between 0.1 - 0.4 mm. Through the use of the finer quartz sand grains, the gratings are also suitable for the barefoot area and achieves the anti-slip rating group R 12.

       

    • Gratings with a closed surface
    • Type: GRP closed

      A GRP plate is laminated onto gratings with a closed surface. The plates are mostly sanded.

       

       

       

      Type: GRP sandwich

       

      Two-sided closed GRP grating. A GRP plate is laminated both on the top and the bottom. The surface can be sanded to be anti-slip. Such a floor covering is suitable especially in areas where tight flatness tolerances are required.

       

       

      Type: GRP chequer plate


      This is another design variant of the closed GRP grating. Instead of a sanded GRP plate, a so-called chequer plate look is used, similar to that seen in the steel sector.

       

    • Treads
    • GRP stair treads are delivered with a black-coloured and sanded nosing bracket 60 x 60 x 8 mm in the width dimensions 617 mm, 807, 997 mm and 1226 mm as standard. With tread depths of 236 mm, 274 mm and 312 mm, we can guarantee closed meshes. Differing dimensions can also be manufactured on request, however it is to be noted that open edges are possible. The fastening possibility (end meshes) is also to be noted.

       

      Nosing bracket:
      The sanded and black-coloured nosing bracket visually marks the front edge particularly advantageously. This contributes substantially to the safety. It also serves as the structural reinforcement to meet the load requirements. In areas where, for constructive reasons, a bracket is not possible or necessary, the nosing edge can be implemented from a GRP flat material in black, sanded.

      Fastening:
      The GRP treads are installed on existing customer supports as standard and screwed with the direct screw connection BU13840K. Optional side plates are available from a GRP bracket. With treads from a width of 807 mm, a nosing bracket is required from a static perspective.

  • Special designs
    • Conductive GRP gratings
    • When using parts that can be used in explosive areas and electrically charged, the surface resistance must not exceed a value of 1 GO. The TÜV Rheinland has verified our conductive GRP gratings to these requirements according to the EN standard 60079-0 and has come to the conclusion that we comply with required values ??and the product can be used without hesitation.

       

    • Phenolic grating
    • Phenolic gratings are characterised by good properties in terms of the fire retardants, high temperature resistance and minimal smoke production.

       

       

    • Food grade gratings
    • The resin for food grade GRP gratings has been developed specifically for use in the food industry.

       

    • Transparent gratings
    • No colour pigments are added in the production of transparent GRP gratings. Through the resin, the grating gets a slight greenish hue but still acts transparent.

       

    • Translucent gratings
    • Unlike the transparent GRP gratings, small quantities of colour pigments are added the translucent gratings during production. The gratings are still translucent, but receive a colour shade.

       

  • Stock information
    • Lichtgitter GRP gratings are available as panels and treads from stock so that you can respond individually, quickly and flexibly to supply shortages. We offer all standard types and versions with proven Lichtgitter quality from our extensive stock.


  • Fixing material
    • Head bold fixing B 43840T
    • Consisting of plate top with firmly connected threaded sleeve and setting bolts.

      This fastening is suitable with mesh spacing ranging from approximately 25 to 40 mm

    • Direct screw fixing B 23840T
    • Consisting of round plate top, bolt, washer, nut M8 and plastic locking ring.


      This fastening material can be mounted (on site) in conjunction with a self-tapping screw from above.

    • Standard fixing material B 1340T
    • Consisting of round plate top, clamp lower part, bolt, nut M8 and plastic locking ring.

      This fixing material can be mounted in the pre-assembled state from a mesh pitch of 38 mm from above - bolt length at least grating height plus 40 mm.

    • Standard fixing material B 150T
    • Consisting of round plate top, clamp lower part, bolt, nut M8 and plastic locking ring.

       

      This fastening material can be mounted in the pre-assembled state from a mesh pitch of 50 mm from above - bolt length at least grating height plus 40 mm.

    • Double clamp fixing B 93840T
    • Consisting of round plate top, clamp lower part, bolt, nut M8 and plastic locking ring.

       

      The double clamping fastening connects adjacent gratings in places that are prone to greater deflection. Prevents the emergence of tripping edges and can be mounted from above - bolt length at least grating height plus 30 mm.

    • Stair tread fixing BU 13840 K
    • Consisting of clamp upper part, bolt, self-locking nut M8 and washer.

       

      The tread fastening connects grating treads with the bearing brackets of the stair construction. Each grating tread is to be secured with 4 anchors.

    • Standard fixing B 11920R
    • Consisting of special round plate top, clamp lower part, bolt, nut M8 and plastic locking ring.

       

      This fastening material is specifically designed for narrow-pitch GRP gratings - screw length at least grating height plus 40 mm.

    • Hook bolt fixing B 73840T
    • Consisting of round plate top, the substructure customised hook bolt screw, bolt, nut M8, plastic locking ring.

       

      The bracket profile of the substructure must be specified. This fastening can be assembled from above.

    • Hook bolt fixing B 83840T
    • Consisting of round plate top, the substructure customised hook bolt screw, bolt, nut M8, plastic locking ring.

       

      The U-profile of the substructure must be specified. This fastening can be assembled from above.

    • Standard fixing BG 13840T
    • Consisting of special round plate top, clamp lower part, bolt, nut M8 and plastic locking ring.

       

      This fixing material is specially designed for closed GRP gratings. Bolt length at least grating height plus 40 mm.
