Pressure-locked gratings

Apart from the use in the industrial and construction sector, Lichtgitter gratings are also increasingly used in architectural applications . Pressure-locked gratings are manufactured from steel, stainless steel and aluminium. On our flexible production plants, we can manufacture the most varied pressure-welded grating types.

    • Construction
      In specially slotted bearing bars, stable cross bars are inserted. The high pressure and the slit formation of the bearing bars guarantee a secure connection, so that the Lichtgitter pressure-locked grating achieves a warp-resistant structure.

      Production sizes
      Gratings are manufactured in all desired construction heights and thicknesses on the market. In the cross bar direction, the production size should by default not exceed 1.600 mm. In exceptional cases, a larger cross bar size is possible in some grating types.

      Banding
      Pressure-locked gratings with bearing bars up to 50 x 3 mm are standard edged with a specially shaped twice ribbed banding bar or a flat material. Such gratings can also be edged with a T-profile. Pressure-locked gratings with bearing bars larger than 50 x 4 mm are edged with flat material as standard.

    • Standard gratings
    • Pressure-locked gratings are particularly suited for platforms, landings and walkways in plants of all kinds. They are characterised by particularly high load bearing capacity and good torsional rigidity. In addition, especially pressure-locked gratings are used in the architectural sector and there where a sophisticated aesthetics is in the foreground. The production method ensures that with the same size individual dimensions, the end meshes of the same size are produced. As a result, bearing and crossbars are flush with adjacent grating, resulting in a very homogeneous picture.

    • Heavy duty gratings
    • Pressure-welded gratings are particularly suitable as a heavy-duty grating. Depending on static or dynamic loading, heavy duty gratings can be manufactured for many applications depending on the clear span. As a rule, individual loads according to EN 1991 / DIN 1055-3 or DIN 1072 (already withdrawn) are to be applied to such loads. You may also download the following for more detailed information on the standard load cases and for dimensioning a suitable heavy duty grating. We recommend that you allow our experienced structural engineers who are familiar with the product to calculate special load cases.

    • Anti-slip gratings
    • Pressure-locked gratings in anti-slip design are used in areas where there is a likelihood of increased risk of slipping. To counter this risk, all bearing and/or cross bars are punched on the upper side in a special process. Through a variety of shaping options and combinations, rating groups up to R13 according to BGR 181 are achieved which have been confirmed by type approval testing for various types of gratings. Anti-slip gratings are marked with an "X" in front of the type designation.

    • Narrow pitch gratings
    • Narrow pitch pressure-locked gratings offer themselves as floor covering, e.g. before doorways, in pedestrian areas or in public areas. Because in those areas, people are also expected with standard and stylish shoes, safe walking can be ensured only with a narrow-pitch grating.

       

      In the leaflet for metal gratings (BGI 588-1), it states:

      In the public areas, the mesh width must be kept small. In such areas, gratings whose clear width does not exceed 10 mm in one direction are to be chosen.

      It is to be noted that the narrow pitched grating must be designed anti-slip when installing outdoors. Outdoors, the rating group R10 according to BGR 181 must at least be met. This rating group cannot be achieved without additional profiling of the crossbars.

    • Treads
    • Stair treads of pressure-locked gratings are manufactured in accordance with DIN 24531-1 or based on this standard. They consist of a specially shaped and perforated nosing, a tread made of pressure-locked gratings and perforated side panels. All stair treads are welded in special plants using the MAG process on the most modern welding robots. This production method guarantees a custom-fit size accuracy of the treads. To facilitate site assembly the end plates are provided with a plain hole and slotted hole each side. Perforated nosing edges increase the bearing capacity of the stair treads and significantly contribute to a safe footing on a staircase.

  • Special designs
    • Landing stage gratings
    • Marinas, sports facilities or boat and canoe jetties ... Landing stage gratings are the best flooring for such systems and at the same time enhance each construction project with the unique appearance. Instead of cross bars, rounded brackets 20 x 10 x 2 mm are pressed into the bearing bars so that trouble-free walking is possible even without shoes.

       

    • Shelf gratings
    • Of course, we can also offer our proven gratings in virtually any design required for the shelving area. Especially in the shelf area, pressure-locked gratings provide the right answer for any installation situation - whether standard gratings, gratings with deep binding bar for fixation, cut-outs in the support area or with angle brackets, the advantages of gratings are unbeatable.

       

      The large open cross section achieves outstanding sprinkler capability which leads to a significant reduction in construction costs in the conception of an extinguishing system. In addition, a very low or non-existent fire load is expected when using steel.

    • Full cell gratings
    • As decorative or functional design elements such as ceiling panels, handrail infil, sun protection, so-called full cell gratings are particularly useful, i.e. pressure-locked gratings in which all bearing bars and cross bars have the same height. Full cell gratings are generally manufactured in a material thickness of 2 mm and 3 mm up to a maximum height of 100 mm with various mesh pitches.

       

    • Sun protection gratings
    • Lichtgitter sun protection gratings are a modern and versatile design element. The impact of the sun protection is determined by the amount of bearing bars running parallel to the building and the distances between them. This relationship between mesh size and bearing bar height gives information on the sun protection of the grating. Particularly good protection is achieved when an angle of approx. 60° is reached compared to an imaginary horizontal line. For an sufficient bearing capacity, constructive cantilevers are required depending on the grating dimensions and load.

      Bolt length at least grating height plus 30 mm. The double clamping connection connects adjacent gratings in places that are prone to greater deflections. It prevents the occurrence of tripping hazards.
